The aim of the thesis entitled Sea-level rise hazard assesment in the Kvarner area provides an analysis of vulnerable areas in the Kvarner region, more precisely detects the presumed maximum sea level depending on the return period in the areas of the islands Rab, Cres and Lošinj. The thesis is divided into 3 parts. The first part contains general information about global warming and mesurments of sea-level rise. The second part deals with the characteristics of the Eastern Adriatic and Kvarner, and the third part presents an analysis of endangered areas on the islands of Rab, Cres and Lošinj. Global warming is the gradual warming of the Earth's surface caused primarily by the greenhouse effect and influence on the global climate and raising sea levels. Sea-level rise is linked to three main factors: thermal expansion, melting glaciers and polar ice caps and ice loss in Greenland and West Antarctica. The consequences of sea-level rise can cause destructive erosion, flooding of wetlands, pollution of groundwater and agricultural land, and the loss of habitat for wildlife. Kvarner areas particularly sensitive to sea-level rise are natural coves due to natural and anthropogenic factors. The impact of sea level rise on the coast of Kvarner can not be stopped. It is possible to assess the degree of geological hazard and risk which may be caused by the processes resulting from sea level rise.
