Abstract
Radioaktivnost je pojava u kojoj dolazi do spontanog raspada atomskih jezgri radioaktivnih elemenata u energetski stabilnije atomske jezgre, uz oslobađanje energije. Takva je energija važan čimbenik u reakcijama poput nuklearne fisije i fuzije koje će u budućnosti imati veliku primjenu za proizvodnju električne energije. Postoje prirodni izvori radioaktivnosti kojima su svakodnevno izloženi svi ljudi, ali oni nisu toliko štetni za ljudsko zdravlje jer se pojavljuju u malim količinama. Umjetni izvori radioaktivnosti rezultat su napretka tehnologije te imaju važnu primjenu u medicini, industriji i ostalim granama tehnike i tehnologije te su osmišljene u svrhu poboljšanja kvalitete ljudskog života.
Abstract (english)
Radioactivity is a phenomenon in which the atomic nuclei of radioactive elements spontaneously decay into energetically more stable atomic nuclei, with the release of energy. Such energy is an important factor in reactions such as nuclear fission and fusion, which will be widely used in the future for the production of electricity. There are natural sources of radioactivity to which all people are exposed on a daily basis, but they are not so harmful to human health because they appear in small amounts. Artificial sources of radioactivity are the result of technological progress and have important applications in medicine, industry and other branches of technique and technology, and are designed for the purpose of improving the quality of human life.
