This paper covers the theoretical basis of physical modeling, the advantages and disadvantages of such type of analysis of engineering problems. General rules and laws for designing a physical model are presented in the purpose to build the physical model of Slatina beach. Through mathematical relations in the paper there are presented the similitude criterias that must be satised in the proces of constructing the physical model with the focus on the relevant ones concretely for this model. After the theoretical base the scale factors for the model are presented and it is proceded to the construction of the model of the coastline and underwater part of Slatina beach. First is constructed the digital model that serves as a design for the construction of the physical model in the laboratory of hydrotechnics on the Faculty of Civil Engineering of Rijeka University. During the building of the model attention is devoted to the selection of adequate materials for the model to be as much easier and in the same time producing enough stability in interaction with water. Despite this paper is about constructing the physical model, the purpose of the model is to conduct experimental analysis of wavee motion and for this purpose it is adequatly scaled.
