We have the opportunity to see the appearance of landslides in all parts of the world, in different materials and environments. The term landslide covers all movements of the material, rock or soil, which occur on a slope. Depending on the material from which the slope is built and the present conditions, landslides are classified according to different parameters, mechanism, state of activity, material, speed, etc. It is important to classify landslides so that protection and remediation measures characteristic of a particular type of breakdown can be determined and used in time. The widely applied Varnes classification divides landslides according to the material, the mechanism of sliding, water content and speed. There are other numerous world-famous classifications that deal with the usual processes and phenomena of landslides. The focus of this work are landslides that occur in special environmental conditions such as landslides near waters, landslides on glaciers, underwater landslides and others. Their appearence and the materials involved in the movement are explained. Other forms of mass instability on slopes such as lava or sand flow and turbidite material flows are also described in the paper.
