This paper describes the construction of the dome of the Renaissance and Baroque. In order to understand more the periods of the Renaissance and Baroque, as well as all that they have left behind, in this paper the attention is given to the most important parts of the famous artists in painting, sculpture and architecture. Both periods occur in the area of Italy, specifically in Rome, where the church became the center of power with the help of brilliant artists of that time and Rome became the center of art. The culture of antiquity is revived where the most used buildings are domes. For the first time in history in the process of designing and building the structure, there is a difference between the constructor and architect. In this paper we analyzed three most important domes in the Renaissance (the dome of the Cathedral of Saint Mary of the Flowers in Florence, the dome of the basilica of St. Peter in the Rome and the dome of St. James Cathedral in Šibenik) and the two most significant in the Baroque period (the dome of St. Paul's Cathedral in London and the dome of the church of St. Vitus in Rijeka). In short lines it is described the historical period of each bulding and the dome itself. The most attention is given to the architecture and construction of the dome (the performance, materials and construction). There are shown new buildin techniques for creating a dome (such as cranes and scaffolding) that are greatly effected the development of future architecture, and also more stronger materials (brick and stone) by which the structure was stable and permanent, and new type of construction of the dome (more shells), that provide a greater range of the dome. In other described domed of Renaissance and Baroque there is given a brief description of the history and characteristics of structures. The significance of the Renaissance and Baroque buildings for future development is invaluable. In this paper, the attempt of making the value and range of these two periods escpecially important has been achieved.
