Following mentioned, the paper describes which types of wastes are generated in some port basins and terminals, as well as their future treatment. Moreover, it presents also the Waste Management Plan for ship in the area which is under the management of the Port of Rijeka Authority and what is prescribed by it. The list of concessionaires responsible for collecting particular type of waste is shown, and according to that, also examples of annual amount of waste collected from the ships. In the paper, diagrams illustrate the method of collecting and transporting waste, as well as the responsibility of each person regarding waste management. Therefore, an overview of the environmental management in the Rijeka port is shown and the description of each individual processes using the Nimbus Control application. Significant aspects of environmental impacts that are measured and monitored by external experts during the three-year period are explained. Finally, the paper provides the fact that the Port of Rijeka Authority complies with the environmental and waste management regulations as evidenced by the certification according to the international standard ISO 14001:2015.
