This graduate thesis deals with the topic of spatial analysis of the characteristics of the transport network in the area of the City of Rijeka. The city of Rijeka is a historic port city that, depending on the historical political situation in the city, developed both spatially and infrastructurally. The road infrastructure within the city is shown and described according to the classification of roads. Also, the classes of roads according to the „Law of roads” their functions and positions within the Republic of Croatia are described. The QGIS softwer was used to analyze the road network. With the application of the geoinformation system and open access maps, such as OpenStreetMap, as well as digital orthophoto (DOF) and topographic (TK25) maps, a network analysis of the city of Rijeka was made. The entered data and attribute values were edited and added for the classification of roads according to the „Law of roads” and the maximum speed of vehicles according to the „Law of road traffic safety”, to be able to analyze the attribute deviation of roads and the connectivity of the road network. Alpha, beta, and gamma values for the city and individual parts of the city were obtained through the connectivity index. Through the service area (from point) and shortest path (point to point) functions, a network analysis of the transport infrastructure was made, i.e. areas that are equidistant from the starting point and the shortest and fastest path between parts of the cities were determined.
