This thesis describes the formation and development of Marina Punat, the emphasis is on the engineering elements of that process. Marina Punat is the first nautical port on the eastern coast of the Adriatic, its formation began in 1964, when nautical tourism was still in its infancy at the world level. Thesis deals with the historical, geological, climatological, and hydrological features of the Marina and its surroundings. The process of the creation of the marina is described, from the first jetties and concrete quays, the use of old railway tracks as piles on which the jetties were formed, to the marina, which has 850 berths in the sea and 500 dry berths. An engineering review was carried out of the first wharfs and coasts, which were built from materials and technologies available in that period, with great creativity of the builders and their knowledge of the sea and coastal construction. The analysis of these, improvised constructions showed several of their advantages compared to classical (massive) constructions. The thesis describes the spatial expansion of the Marina Punat, its impact on the environment and the application of new technologies that reduced several adverse effects of the marina. An overview of the maintenance of the equipment in the marina was given. The possible impacts of the Marina on the Puntarska Draga, future development plans and maintenance of the Marina Punat are described.
